Nikotin
Nikotin is a restaurant in the buzzing Amsterdam Noord, founded by nightlife institute Nachbar and Michelin-starred chef Tim Van Der Molen. The city's every evolving culinary culture is best seen in their neighborhood of Amsterdam Noord, where Nikotin profiles itself as a restobar, mixing Asian cuisine and grill based cooking with a selection of great wine and other drinks.
The name 'Nikotin' stems from the fact that their location used to be a tobacco factory. The logotype is based on the shape of a cigarette, featuring extended custom typography.
At the heart of Nikotin's visual language is handdrawn typography, which is mostly drawn in a very sketchy, rough way with 'India ink' and reflects on Nikotin's casual approach mixed with the roughness of grill based cooking. Nikotin's identity needed to feel contemporary, never trendy - which reflects in the simple color palette of bright orange, black and white. Instantly recognizable and clear, like the restobar itself.
